Synopsis
Experience the pure simplicity of our original home
Sound of Samadhi is a biennial concert organised by Kwan Yin Chan Lin Zen Meditation Centre to allow city dwellers an evening experience of relaxation and peace, where we return to the simplicity and purity of life. This year, the theme poem for the concert is:
本是山中人,
爱说山中话。
五月卖松风,
人间恐无价。
五五二十五!
Originally coming from the mountains,
speaking in the mountain tongue.
Hawking pine breeze in May,
priceless in the human realm.
Five Fives is twenty five.
Lost in the hustle and bustle of the city life, we easily forget the peace that we all originally possess in our hearts. In this year’s concert, Sound of Samadhi brings us back to the mountains where we can once again find that which we have lost. With intricately choreographed pieces on the flute and harp by Tsuyoki Fukui and Yumiko Ogawa, and tunes depicting the scenery of the mountains performed together with our guest musicians, Zen Master Ji Haeng (Thom Pastor), KMSPKS Zen Drum Ensemble and PMT The Music Tree, take a breath of the fresh mountain breeze and listen to what the mountains have been trying to tell us. Having received and experienced this priceless gift, we invite you to bring it home and share it with your loved ones and friends. Finally, in the last line of the poem, it says, “Five Fives is twenty five.” What is “five fives is twenty five”? If you do not know, come find out at Sound of Samadhi IV.
