Speaker’s biodata:

Bro Benny Liow is the editor of Eastern Horizon, journal of the Young Buddhist Association of Malaysia. He was the Editorial Consultant and contributor to the “Religious and Beliefs” volume of The Encyclopedia of Malaysia (2006).

His writings have appeared in the Journal of the Malaysian Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, Kajian Malaysia, and in “Nurturing Child and Adolescent Spirituality: Perspectives from the World’s Religious Traditions” (Rowman & Littlefield: Minneapolis, USA, 2006).

 

To date he has edited eight books: “K. Sri Dhammananda: A Pictorial Retrospect” (2000), “K. Sri Dhammananda Felicitation” (2003), “108 Treasures for the Heart: A Guide to Daily Living” (2005), “Transforming the Mind” (2008), “Stepping into Freedom” (2010), “Meeting the Dharma: Malaysians in Search of Happiness” (2010), “Transcending Negative Emotions: Creating Happiness& Well-Being in Our Lives” (2012), and “One Dharma: Many Buddhist Traditions” (2013).

 

Benny has convened four international conferences on Buddhism in Malaysia, the Global Conference on Buddhism in 2002 and 2007, and World Buddhist Conference in 2010 and 2012. He has also similarly organized three Buddhist film festivals under the Wesak International Buddhist Film Festival series in 2006, 2008, and 2011.

 

Benny holds a B.A. (Honors) Education degree from Universiti Sains Malaysia and a M.P.A. degree from University of Malaya.

He is currently employed as the Executive Director of a Multinational Corporation.
